After almost a year of planning and hard work, Walk Day is almost here!!!! As of right now, we have 487 people registered to walk, with many more anticipiated on Walk Day.

It’s going to be a beautiful, cool morning. Perfect weather for our walk and fun activities.

See everyone on Saturday (some of you way earlier than others.) Don’t forget your Epipens!!!

Important Walk Day Details

The FAAN Atlanta Walk is this Saturday. We have been working hard to make sure this is an extra special event for all of our walkers this year.

I wanted to share some important Walk Day information with everyone:

1) Parking is available in both the St. Barnabus and the St. Patrick churches right by Brook Run Park. It will be a lot easier to park in one of those lots and walk into the park, as there are two events going on that day.

2) Walker check in and registration begin at 9AM. If you have not yet registered online, I strongly recommend that you do, as the registration lines will be longer. There will be 4 stations for walker check-in and 2 stations for walker registration. Also, remember that if you don’t preregister, you may not receive a tshirt.

3) Don’t forget about the DEY Ipad2 giveaway. The winner will be announced at 11:15. Winners must be present to claim their prize.

4) Allergic Living is giving out the latest edition of their magazine and is offering a special discounted subscription rate. You can pick up your copy of the magazine and sign up at the Food Allergy Kids of Atlanta booth.

5) Parts of North Peachtree will be shut down for the Peachtree Charter Middle School 5K and Fun Run from about 8-8:30. Here is a link showing what roads will be shut down- http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/21118588 A suggested alternative route is to take 285 to Peachtree Industrial Blvd Exit. Get of at the 1st exit, turning left/north onto Tilly Mill Road. Take a left on North Peachtree Road (I think it’s the 2nd light) and Brook Run will be on your right. Even if you are coming from a different direction, this should help you tweak your route to avoid the road closure.

6) This year, along with all of the yummy allergy friendly sponsor goodies, DJ entertainment, face painting, bouncy areas, tattoos and coloring, we will also have a Home Depot sponsored Kids Workshop area and a Discount School Supply sponsored kids craft area. It promises to be a very fun filled morning for the kids!

Countdown to Walk Day

The FAAN Walk is less than one week away. According to current weather forecast, we are in for a beautiful, sunny day with 0% chance of rain!

Please help spread the word that it is not too late to register. Only preregistered walkers who raise $100 or more and all PREREGISTERED children will be guaranteed walk tshirts. Also, the lines will be much longer for folks who are registering on Walk Day, as we will have four designated lines for preregistered walkers and two for walk day registration.

More details to come throughout the week.

VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED!!!

Y’all, we are getting really close to the wonderful day that is walk day. This year promises to be extra fun for the kids with the addition of generously donated Home Depot Kids Workshop and Discount School Supply Craft Station.

We are still in need of many volunteers for early morning setup and registration. Please, please consider signing up to help if you can. We REALLY, REALLY need you.

It is also time to start thinking ahead to next year. If you are interested in Chairing the 2012 FAAN Atlanta Walk, please let one of us know. As of right now, we have no chairs. I definitely have to step back and away after this year (and this time I really do mean it.) It is time for others to step up and take over this wonderful event. I cannot put into words what an amazing experience these past few years have been for me. I am thankful for all of the special people who have come into my life during my tenure.

Exciting New Kids’ Activities

This year, thanks to The Home Depot and Discount School Supply, we will have two new kids’ areas. The Home Depot is providing a kids’ workshop and Discount School Supply is providing a kids’ craft area. Not only are they donating all of the supplies, etc., they are also providing volunteers.

This promises to be the best walk yet. Don’t forget to register.
